Random Free Agent and Draft Predictions

Draftman Rick

Here are some ideas that are floating around in my head.

The Raiders just signed QB Geno Smith which makes them less likely to draft Shedeur Sanders which leaves running back as their top priority which means there's a good chance they draft Ashton Jeanty from Boise State in the first round.

The Ashton Jeanty thing with the Raiders means the Cowboys are very unhappy since some folks had them pegged to draft Jeanty with the 12th pick in the first round. I think they might be forced to take a defensive tackle which will probably work out better in the long run since they stink at stopping the run.

Speaking of the Cowboys, they messed up... again. They have a reputation for waiting to sign their own free agents and waiting and waiting and waiting while the price to sign them goes higher and higher and higher. Well, they want to sign their superstar Micah Parsons. They could have done it already, but they didn't. So, a few days ago the Raiders gave DE Maxx Crosby the most money for a non-quarterback. Micah Parsons was saying to himself, "Oh, I want more money than that." Then, the Cleveland Browns just gave DE Myles Garrett $40 million per year which set the record by $5 million for a non-quarterback that Maxx Crosby had just broken. Micah Parsons is saying to himself, " Ooh, now I want more money than that!" The Cowboys will never learn. If you have a player who you know you want to sign, you need to do it sooner rather than later because the price just keeps rising as other players set the bar higher.

Cam Ward will be the first QB taken in the draft... ahead of Deion Sanders' son.

The teams who might want Aaron Rodgers are getting fewer and fewer. He had a shot with the Raiders, but they got Geno Smith. He had a shot with the Rams, but they re-signed Matt Stafford. Which teams are left? Maybe the Steelers. Wait, they don't put up with too much nonsense. Maybe the Colts. Wait, they don't eat too many mushrooms in the Midwest. Maybe retirement. Wait, Rodgers doesn't want to go out like this! Does he have any college eligibility left? Maybe a COVID year. Am I the only one who thinks these COVID year exemptions the NCAA has granted players has kept some of them in college for as long as Rodgers has been in the NFL? OK, if you pin me down, I'll guess the Steelers will sign Rodgers... if they don't keep Russell Wilson.

I think the Seahawks might sign free agent QB Sam Darnold.

If Kirk Cousins gets kicked out of Atlanta and signs one more contract, he will pass Elon Musk for the most money earned over a career.

May God always be your number 1 draft pick!
